* Stubby's Sewing Farm Girl's Dresses *

I thought I should post a few pics of some of our past dresses.  Most of these are my mothers creations, and most of them are already sold. We have an Etsy store, but can't seem to keep up with it, between the booth at Pennington's in Prescott, AZ  and special orders, we do not have any to sell there.  We have also been selling a few at the Green Monkey Resale in Prescott. Someday we will restock our Etsy shop!   ;)

This is the only one that I made.  I used a vintage tea cloth that I found at a thrift store.  One of my favorite things to do!  It was my first sale on Etsy.

LOVE the fabric on this one!

Thanks for your interest in our sewing creations!

*Busy Little Bees* ~Stubby's Sewing Farm~

Mom & I have been busy little bees!  On February 1st, we opened up a booth in Pennington's, my favorite antique store in downtown Prescott.  We have handmade dresses and dolls for sale, and a few other items. We're calling it Stubby's Sewing Farm :)   We sold 2 sets of dresses with matching dolls, just while we were setting up the booth! Here are some of the things that I have been working on....
The apron is made from a vintage tea cloth and this set is for sale in the booth.
I am in love with these Quirky Kids (the cloth ones & human ones too)! They are mostly vintage fabric & I can't wait to make myself one of these Super masks :) My kiddos have already been sporting them, along with thier dolls that I made.

Some more Quirky Kids...although I just realized that these girlies weren't quite done yet, they have some really cute frills on thier dresses now.  The little boy just loves to dress up in his bear costume.

The Giavanna.  My very first special order dress...hope she loves it like I do ;)

These two fancy numbers are in the Pennington's booth right now.  I cannot take credit for the red sash dress, that is the brilliant design of my mother! I am keeping an eye on that one for Amelia ;)  I did however make the little one on the right with the gold vintage button, it's a 2T.

Mom just got a huge order for 12 dresses, so we are super duper busy on those.

Thank you for checking out what we've been up to!

Freezer Paper Silhouttes .... Who Knew??

The supplies: Freezer Paper, paper design, exacto knife, black fabric paint...
oh and a sponge brush that I forgot to put in the picture :)

Why on earth I had no idea why this amazing stuff existed is beyond me.... freezer paper.  It is waxy on one side and papery on the other and quite inexpensive (I think I paid around 3 bucks for a whole role at Walmart).  You can use it to let the kids glue, draw or fingerpaint on.  Liquids won't seep through!  But perhaps the coolest project to do with this fabulous invention is to make stencils.  The waxy side irons right onto fabric & then pulls right off when you are all done.  You can get all detail-y and it still works like a dream.

My very first project was this silhoutte of my kiddos.  I have always loved silhouttes....since kindergarden when our wiggley little bodies were asked to hold still while the teacher traced our profile image onto the paper taped to the wall.  It was fascinating to me & pretty much still is.  Everytime we go to Disneyland/Disneyworld, that is my one big splurge, to get a paper cut silhoutte of my babies.  I absolutely love them almost as much as I love my Munchkins :)

So here's what I did....
1. Trace your design on the paper side of the wax paper.
2. Put a piece of cardboard under the paper and cut it out with a exacto knife (for those pesky little details)
3. Iron your design onto your fabric, waxy side down. Make sure your iron is set to dry, not steam.
4. Place a piece of cardboard underneath your fabric, so the paint doesn't seep through.
5. I used a sponge brush to dab on the fabric paint...dab, dab, dab-a-roo or it might bleed on the edges.  Let it dry (if you are as impatient as me, blowdry that baby).  It may need a second coat, I didn't on my pillow, but then again I am quite the impatient one, remember?
6. Now for the excitedly fun part....Carefully peel the paper away to reveal your fantabulous new design!!  And I believe you can reuse your design...I haven't tried it yet, but will.

The finished product.  Amelia's silhouetty bottom lip was not a painting mistake, but part of the center of a flower.  I think I am going to try and fix it with some pink paint :)

Now go try it on shirts, bags, pillows....whatever you crafty little mind can come up with!
